Last week I had a conversation with my friend and fellow writer Sam. She and I were talking about the fact that a writer should be able to sum up their book in one sentence. Being the prolific writer that Sam is she tapped one out in front of me as we chatted on Messenger. I being up for the challenge as well tapped one out too.
Of course Sam insisted hers was better as she doesn’t want my head to get too big, just love her for that . . .
Anyway, here’s what I came up with for Cheyenne and realized it was truly fitting for the entire Timeless Series . . . The Timeless Series Novels is the struggle with one finding themselves and reaching deeper to become what they were always meant to be.
I was proud of myself for being able to sum it up so well and then began to realize what this really meant to me. You go through life sometimes in a whirlwind and don’t take the time to slow down, we’re all guilty, and I’m guiltiest of them all. I lost touch with myself and allowed other things to drag me down.
It’s funny now that I look back at the Timeless Series and see how this story is truly about what I had to go through to find myself again. Now granted I’m not my character Cheyenne, I don’t have bulky gorgeous men hanging off or fawning over me. I’m not part of a lost line of royal people and I surely don’t have powers . . . we’ll maybe as my icy stare has been known to freeze people in place . . .
Anyway, what I am saying is that through writing these novels I found the Lisa that had been hidden beneath all the rumble of my life and I found happiness once more.
Most people around me wouldn’t have known what I was hiding for years; they knew I changed, but unsure why. It’s only those closest to me, those who have stuck by me through thick and thin that got to see the before and after . . . and they like the after as much as they liked the before.
What a lovely way to summarise it Lisa – the results of your journey are awesome to read too!
